Bringing The Thunder!

“Those Boys in Chico sure know what there do’en!” Thats a saying the HYW 68 Hillbilly’s use when refering to Sierra Nevada Beer, it goes the same for the Thunderbringers MTBers from Chico too!

Scoot Fellers, “Wookie” had his bachelor party here in Ashland this last weekend and brought up 19 Thunderbringers with him! These boys weren’t fool’en around when the got here! After 2 runs on the “ENTERTAINER” at Shasta they rolled into Ashland on Friday afternoon and banged out 2 more runs here! Then the night time activities began and didn’t end, from what I was told, until 3:30am for most, and not till the sun came up for one Mr. Erik Barten!

All but Erik made the 10:30am shuttle and road another later in the day, still no sign of Erik… Iwas told he was sleeping off his WWE debut!

Night 2 was no different! But the morning brought something more special though. It was the day of the Mt Ashland Hill Climb, 18.5 miles, 4200′ of ele gain and when Aren Timmell cought wind I was doing it, he crawled out of bed with only4ish hrs of sleep, pounded down some 20 donuts and a couple of red bulls and signed up for the race. After the firts 4 minutes he road away with the lead group and I didn’t see him again till I got to the top and found out he won the MTB Overall with a time of 1:38! He only beet me by 25 min! He then did the last run of the weekend with the group out to Time Warp! I have a new hero, move over Weir!

After a few beers for the non drivers, the Tunderbringers packed up and headed back to there normal lives. I just wounder how they will explain the bite marks?? Blame Erik I say!

Thanks for the fun guys, Scott,Shawn,Jared,Kevin,Nick,B.J.,Marty,Joe,Danny,Rust,Erik Tim, Chad Aren,Mike, Ethan,Tim and Kyle.

Happy B day HWY 68 Hillbilly’s

This last weekend we were visited by 18 of the HWY 68 Hillbilly’s that were here celebrating Sonja’s 40th and Jeff’s 41st Birthdays. Some rolled in late Wednesday and road on Thursday and got to cut into some still moist dirt. Pizza and Nicaski Total Domination were on tap after the ride!

Friday brought more of the group that had come in late Thursday night and we started with a Time Warp to Horn Gap, Mystical, Hitt Rd run. We collected at the Water Street Cafe for some food and recovery drinks/Sierra Nevada on tap! Then loaded up for run#2. This was a shorter Super D run with the Links trails thrown in for good measure.

Friday night was greeted with the remainder of the crew rolling in around 8pm and the party kicked into high gear! I don’t think there’s and SKY Vodka left in Ashland!  From what I heard, it went late and had it’s damages.

Saturday and 10am came a little to soon for most. Still they rallied and got on shuttle #1 and road another Time Warp! A right turn on 2060 got them back soon enough for a second run and the final run for most.

Saturday night saw more spectacular BBQ and side dishes fit for an army! Then the GO PRO video cam footage on a big screen TV was super cool! getting to watch everyone ride was a real treat! Then Vodka Smoothies and I can’t remember anything else!

Sunday was allot of good by’s, but not for 5! Jeff, Rick, Dave, Timmy and Boyed all needed alittle more Ashland dirt in there teeth before going back to Salinas.

As usual, this was one of my favorite weekend of the year, Beer Bikes and Bro’s! Thanks for the good times, two more fingers, HYF, make me a sammiewinch!

Trails Clear… With a Twist!

6 Teenagers wanted Sponsorship… They had no Idea!

After 6 hours of shoveling these kids and I have the Lower Bull Gap Trail Open for riding and the race this weekend! Mt Ashland Ski Plowed 2 miles of the Upper Bull Gap rd to get ready for the Ashland Mountain Challenges Super D Race happening this next weekend June 18th. However, there was the Lower Bull Gap Trail. A singletrack trail that climbs from 5200′ back up to 5800′. It had snow drifts about half the way across it in 20′ and 30′ sections that were up to 3′ deep!

Those Kids were Troopers!

If your here to ride or race in the next week, you will experience a tunnel of snow that will blow your mind! A very different sensation of riding that you just can’t find. While the trail is wet in sections, it’s pure singletrack with out interuption of Flow!

So, Get here, Don’t miss this short window of opportunity to experience something so very different, riding that will challenge your imagination and ability…

Nov. 6 AMA Trail Work Day is a Wrap

It was cold, wet and snowing! Yet 23 people that love to ride these trails, came anyway and helped us buff out the “Lower Missing Links” Trail. We were very challanged just getting to 4 corners. With 4-5 inches of snow for more than a mile from 4 corners, we were slipping and sliding on the way there!
But we got all the people and tools there and they got busy!
We worked on the lower section of the Missing Links trail and got it Buffed back into better than ever shape! We even added rollers into most of the bermed sections to reduce breaking bumps and add to riders enjoyment.
At the end of 3.5 hours we were done with the trail and ready to move on back to the shop for Pizza, beverage and a Raffle!
Everyone went home stoked to give back to the trails and have a fun time doing it!
Thanks to everyone that came to help out and my Trail boss’s, RC and Jake, you guys rock!

Next Sunday, same Bat Channel, same Bat Time!
